Prominent Stockman Dies In San Antonio-Born in Gonzales County

Relatives here received the sad news early this morning that John W. Kokernot, prominent cattleman and resident of San Antonio for many years, passed away today at 1 a.m. at his residence in the Alamo City.
The news of his passing was a shock to nieces and nephews here, although they knew that his health had not been very good for several years.
Surviving him are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. J. C. McNeal, Mrs. John Felder, and Mrs. Randolph Carter, all of San Antonio. His only son, Glenn Kokernot, passes away several years ago, his death being a great shock to his father.
Mr. Kokernot was born and reared on the old Kokernot ranch in the Big Hill section of Gonzales county and was a son of Csapt. Davis L. Kokernot, Texas pioneer and veteran of the Texas revolution, founder of the Kokernot family in Texas. He was a younger brother of the late L. M. Kokernot, for many years one of Gonzales county's leading stockmen and land owners.
