Anna Christine Bergsten was born August 4, 1878 near Nelson, Minn., the daughter of Andrew M. and Anna Bergsten. When Anna was a small child, the Bergsten family moved to Alexandria and later to Garfield where Mr. Bergsten operated a general store. On July 31, 1896, Anna was united in marriage to Charles J. Johnson. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Johnson operated a grocery store in Garfield for many years. Mr. Johnson passed away on December 28, 1946. Mrs. Johnson continued to make her residence at Garfield until being hospitalized several weeks ago. She passed away Saturday evening, May 9th, at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 5 days. She is survived by one son, Harlan R. Johnson of Garfield; two daughters, Mrs. Gladyce Endersby of St. Paul and Mrs. Harry (Joyce) Wells of Garfield; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother: Alfred Bergsten of Minneapolis; and four sisters: Mrs. Knute (Ida) Knutson of Garfield, Mrs. Chris (Mary) Johnson of Salinas, Calif., Mrs. C. R. (Tillie) Johnson of St. Cloud, Mrs. Hilda Christensen of Bremerton, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Johnson; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Barrie; one brother, Gust A. Bergsten; and one granddaughter, Beverly Endersby.
