Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Barrie, who passed away at Ashbury hospital in Minneapolis, July 21, after a lingering illness, were held at St. Lukes church at Garfield, Saturday, July 24, with Rev. Winston Hoog officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Harlan Johnson, Charles R. Johnson, H. H. Wells, Benhard Bergsten, Knute J. Knutson and Arthur Foslien.
Lydia Bergsten Barrie was born Feb. 2, 1887, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bergsten. Her father was a pioneer merchant at Garfield. Mrs. Barrie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Arthur (Lucille) Bahr of Young America and Cassius Barrie of Finley, N.D. Two brothers and five sisters also survive. These are: Gust Bergsten, Garfield; Alfred Bergsten, Minneapolis; Mrs. Anna Johnson, Mrs. Knute J. Knutson, both of Garfield; Mrs. Christ Johnson of North Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Alfred Christensen, Bremerton, Wash.; and Mrs. Charles R. Johnson, St. Cloud. Four grandchildren also survive.
