Hays -- Paul Walters, 78, died Oct. 18, 1990, at Hadley Regional Medical Center, Hays. He was born Nov. 9, 1911, at Catherine, the son of Justus and Bertha Staab Walters.

He worked for Producers Pipeline and Gas, Hays, and was a lifetime resident of Ellis County. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, all at Hays. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On June 7, 1938, he married Irene Stramel at Catherine. She survives.

Other survivors include: one son, William Paul, Shawnee, one daughter, Mary Wakefield, Hays; five brothers, Florence, Hays, Rudolph, Salina, Romuald, Dodge City, Francis, Russell, Alfred, Catherine; four sisters, Adelaide Dinkel, Dorothy Lang, both of Catherine, Bertha Lang and Shirley Weigel, both of Hays; and four grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Felix Petrovsky presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time today at Hays Memorial Chapel, Hays. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
