Bob was the 13th child of 14 born to John and Anna Batts. He was born on Halloween in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He completed the 8th grade before moving to California with his older brothers to look for work.

He married Donnell Cleveland in 1949 and together they had five children: Chris, Donald, Brenda, Cynda, and Brian. Bob and Donnell divorced in 1962, and he raised the children alone.

In his older years, he married Joanne Hughes and they moved to Prescott, Arizona. They eventually divorced, remarried and divorced again. In about 2015, he moved to Hesperia where he was living when he passed.

He is survived by his children, Chris (Dianna), Brenda (Vito, Al, Tone), Cynda (Joe, Mark) and Brian (Diane), his brother Phillip (Lorraine), sister Rae Ann (Marvin), eleven grandchildren, Rick and Amanda, Anthony, Robert, Eric, Breanna and Shane, Joseph, Chrystal and Janice and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was a general building contractor for many years. He loved to go deer hunting in his younger years, and retired to rebuild classic cars.

He was active in church most of his life at the Church In The Barn in El Monte, California and was blessed with an awesome tenor voice. He was a mentor to many and admired by all. He was a good and honest man.

He was my husbands father and I was proud to call him Dad.
