He was born in Camden Oct. 12, 1863, son of John R. and Ellen C. Carleton. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He had been a farmer and operated a lumber business.
He lived in the family homestead on the Mexico Road until seven years ago, when he retired and came to the Village of Camden.
He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Merritt Babcock, McConnellsville, Mrs. Tracy Yorton and Mrs. Sarah Helmer, Camden, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were performed Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the B. A. Sanborn & Son funeral home, by the Rev. George Steigler, and burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery in the spring.
Bearers were James Osborne, David Price, John and Charles Carleton, and Carlton and Everett Milliman. People attended the rites from McConnellsville, Hillsboro, Syracuse, Wampsville, Verona and Florence.
