Johnny was a World War I Veteran and the beloved son of Moses Jarman and Hester Matilda Shivers Jarman, who were married February 18, 1884. His siblings were Cora Florence Jarman born Feb. 8, 1886 and married Solomon Rhodes; Nase Samuel "Nace" Jarman born Sept. 28, 1891 and married Lula Bell Marshburn; Mary Matilda Jarman born Sept. 27, 1893 and married John Lewis Jarman from Jones County; Hester Mittia (Hett) born May 7, 1896 and who married Alva Leslie Marshburn; Temie Corilla Jarman born March 5, 1901 and who married Walter Leamon Gould. His father Moses farmed land which now belongs to the Bertie Smith descendents. His mother Hester died March 3, 1924 and is buried next to Moses. Johnny married Nellie Wells on April 23, 1919. They had seven children: Richard Hedrick Jarman born May 1, 1920 and who married Mabel Suggs on May 4, 1940; Ruth Lee Jarman born Sept. 19, 1922 and who married Latham Parker in June, 1947; George Washington (G.W.) Jarman born October 28, 1924, died March 1974, and married Margaret Swinson; Nellie Hester (Teeny) Jarman born August 25, 1925 and married Melvin Witherow on May 29, 1946; John Britton (J.B.)Jarman born April 15, 1928 and married Janet Pace Holloman; William Turlington (Bill) Jarman born Oct 18, 1931 and never married; and Virginia Pearl Jarman born July 7, 1934 and married Hal Barnard Macon, Jr.
