DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
A very sad death occurred in this city Wednesday evening, June 4, at 7 o'clock when Mrs. Joe M. Smith passed away. Mrs. Smith was taken suddenly ill about ten days ago with peritonitis and rapidly grew worse until the end came. She was about 52 years old and was reared in Washington County. She was married to Joe M. Smith, of the same county, thirty years ago.
Mrs. Smith was a most exemplary christian lady and a devoted wife and mother. She leaves her husband and six children to mourn her unexpected taking away. She was the sister of Mrs. John G. Cecil and Mrs. Lizzie Adams of this place, and Charles and William Logsdon, of Washington County. Many friends extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
