Miss Mary Hoffman, 17 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hoffman, who live near Emmeram, died of diphtheria Sunday night. Miss Hoffman was ill only four days. Because of the danger of contagion, the funeral was private with burial at the Emmeram cemetery Monday. Miss Hoffman was the News correspondent for her neighborhood and for some time past had been contributing an interesting news letter every week. It is not known how she contracted the disease. So far as known the young woman had not come into contact with anyone having diphtheria.
