Rachael was the daughter of John Martin and Isabel Decker. She was first married to John Brann and had one daughter, Minnie. Rachael and John later divorced and she was remarried to John W. Wesley on December 28, 1878 in Clay county, Indiana. The couple had 8 children, 2 died in infancy.

Sister Follows Brother To Grave

Mrs. Rachel Wesley, aged 72 years, for many years a resident of this community, died at the home at Terre Haute Wednesday evening. She was a sister of John E. Martin, a farmer of near Calcutta, who died Monday evening and was buried on Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Martin is survived by four sons and two daughters –Mrs. Minnie McCullough of Terre Haute; Mrs. Maggie McGovern of Los Angeles, Cal.; Morgan Wesley and Dave Wesley of Terre Haute, and Daniel and Dennis Wesley of Cardonia, Ind. The deceased also leaves four sisters and two brothers–Henry Martin of Harmony, Ind.; Leonard Martin of Arkansas; Mrs. Katherine Chesterfield of Indianapolis; Mrs Belle Brown of Brazil and Mrs. Mary Ambrose of Harmony, Ind. and Mrs. Lucinda Thomas of Carbon, Ind. Sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren are also left.

The deceased was an aunt of John Chesterfield of this city.
