MRS. WILLIAM A. McGEE

Mrs. Amy Moak McGee, daughter of Phillip and Susana Bowers Moak, was born in Marion County, Iowa, August 4, 1854, and died at the home of her son, Arthur McGee, near Wilsontown, Missouri, Tuesday morning, April 9, 1929 at the age of 74 years.

She was united in marriage February 16, 1875 to William A. McGee. To this union eight children were born, one dying in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Vida Walker, Eddyville, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle Warren, Kirksville, Missouri, Mrs. Zora Howerton, Hurdland, Mo, Perry McGee, Montesano, Washington; Arthur McGee, La Plata, Mo; and Iva McGee, Ottumwa, Iowa.

After their marriage they lived in Eddyville, Iowa until the year of 1902, when they moved to Locust Hill, Mo., where they lived for seven years. Again they returned to Iowa until 1915 when they moved again to Missouri and located on the May farm at Wilsontown, where they have since lived.

In early life, Mrs. McGee united with the Christian church and after locating in Missouri, placed her membership with the Star church.

About two years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never fully recovered and again on April 2, 1929 she had another stroke which caused her death.

The deceased was a good Christian woman, a kind and loving wife and mother. Besides the children she leaves her aged husband, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, two brothers, Oliver Moak of Washington and Wilmer Moak of Oregon.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Locust church near Hurdland, Missouri. Reverend Shoemaker of La Plata officiated and interment was made in the Locust cemetery.
