Benjamin R. "Dick" Purdy, 78, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Indianapolis, died Monday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Bradenton, with calling from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today. He had worked 35 years for Western Electric Co., Indianapolis, before retiring. He was a member of the Oaklandon Christian Church. Mr. Purdy was a past master of Oakland Masonic Lodge and a past patron of the Oakland chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Oaklandon. Survivors: wife, Louise Purdy; daughter, Carmen L. Mock; son, Richard C. Purdy; brother, Harold Purdy; sister, Freida Purdy; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
