Freda Hines
WALTON, Ind. -- Freda Bennett Hines, 71, 6201 E. Ind. 218, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 1995, at Miller's Merry Manor Health Care, Peru.
She was born April 5, 1924, in Star City, a daughter of Chester and Lena (King) Purdy. In 1956 she married Virgil Bennett, who preceded her in death in 1980. On Feb. 4, 1984, she married Kenneth D. Hines, who preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1995.
She worked at the Blue Drug Store in Peru in the 1950s. In the 1970s she worked at the American Stationary Co., Peru.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School. She was a member of Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren near Peru.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Bennett, Arlington, Texas and Barbara Stout, Winter Park, Fla.; one step daughter, Elaine Dillman, Freeport, Ill.; one step son, Gene Hines, Walton; and one sister, Mary McMillian, Donovan, Ill.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, 1 1/2 miles west of Nead School off of U.S. 31. The Rev. Paul Bartholomew will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Jeff Stout of Stout & Son Funeral home is in charge of arrangements
