Merlin George Theobald passed away on June 4, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He was born March 8, 1935 in Hinckley, Utah to Carl George and Florence LaVern Croft Theobald. He graduated from Hinckley High School in 1953 and attended CSU (Cedar City). He served an LDS mission in Mexico and graduated from BYU in 1960 with a BA Degree. He married Beulah Barney of Delta in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on April 9, 1959.
Merlin taught school in Orange County, CA for 11 years and lived in St. George for 38 years. His profession was in steel building construction. Highlights of his life include serving two missions with his wife in Honduras and Argentina, serving as a temple ordinance work, singing with the Heritage Choir, and traveling to various parts of the world.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah; children, Brent (Kari Murphy), Phil (Corri Seegmiller), Larry (Kathy Nelson Riddle), Sherri (Sam Goodrich), Roger (Melissa Bradshaw), Kevin and Kristine (Jared Johnson); 28 grandchildren; brother, Paul; sister, Grace Waldram; brothers-in-law: Blair Maxfield and Marion Manwill; sisters-in-law: Shirley Theobald Peterson and Carol Theobald.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Elaine Turner, Leon, Verrue, Eda Maxfield, Golden, Joyce Manwill and infant daughter Jan.
Services will be held at the LDS East Stake Center, 449 South 300 East, St. George on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 am.
Visitations will be held at the Stake Center on Thursday June 9th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and on Friday prior to the service at 9:30 am.
