DEATH: FLORENCE LAVERN CROFT THEOBALD

Florence LaVern Croft Theobald, 99, passed away June 15, 1996, peacefully at West Millard Care Center in Delta, Utah.

Born September 30, 1896 in Deseret, Utah, daughter of Jacob and Mary Elison Croft, the first of ten children. She attended the A.C. Nelson Elementary School in Deseret, Utah, and graduated from Millard Academy, Hinckley, Utah, in 1916. She recently attended the annual alumni banquet and was honored as the oldest graduate of the high school, 80 years.She married Carl G. Theobald on June 22, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A lifetime member of the LDS Church, she served in many capacities, Primary, and Relief Society, and was still a visiting teacher at the age of 98. She was also an active member of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch of the American Legion. She served a mission with her husband at the age of 75 to the Rochester, New York mission. While there, she participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant.

LaVern and Carl are the parents of nine children: Mrs. Elaine (Fred) Turner, of Delta; Leon C., of Hinckley; Mrs. Eda (Blair) Maxfield, of Cedar City; Milton Verue, deceased; Mrs. Grace Waldron, of Bountiful; Paul H. (Dorothy), of Orem; Golden L., deceased; Mrs. Joyce (Marion) Manwill, of Payson; Merlin G. (Beulah), of St. George; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Theobald Peterson, of Provo; and Carol Theobald, of Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Merrill Croft, of Salt Lake City; Elmo Croft, of Lindon; and sister, Mrs. Inez Steed, of Salt Lake City; 120 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 19th, from 7-9 p.m. at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hinckley chapel, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment in the Hinckley Cemetery.
