HOWARD LUTHER PLANK, 63, Holiday Dr., Smithsburg, died Thursday afternoon at the Washington County Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Gettysburg, Pa., the son of the late Charles Roy and Virgie May Plank. He was an engineer with the Western Maryland Railroad.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Ruth Marie Peters Plank, he leaves the following: four sons, James Howard Plank, Holiday Acres, Doyle Francis Plank, Glenn Mark Plank, Lawrence Elwood Plank, Waldorf; one daughter, Mrs. Delores Jane Weaver; five brothers, John Edward, Cletus Rhinehart, Charles Chester, Clair Bruce Plank, all of Gettysburg, Pa., Roy Landon Plank, Biglerville, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Virginia Duble, Thurmont, Mrs. Sara Cecelia Kint, Gettysburg, Pa., Mrs. Geraldine Agnes Wise, Oswego, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel where friends may call. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Passarelli officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
