Joseph Kapitz, 85, of 806 Summit St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 3, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will he celebrated by the Rev. Don Kapitz, a grandson, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, with graveside military rites accorded by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88.

Mr. Kapitz was born Oct. 16, 1896, at Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Martha Muchowski Kapitz. He married Mary Kowalski June 28, 1920, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Kewaunee. She preceded him in death July 14, 1974. He had been employed by Mirro Aluminum Company for 42 years, retiring in 1962. Mr. Kapitz was a veteran of World War I, serving in the United States Navy, and was a 50 year member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88. He was also a member of St. Paul Parish and Manitowoc Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Tram Kapitz, and Arnold and Shirley Kapitz of Manitowoc; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ann Kapitz of Green Bay; a brother, Walter Kapitz of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Hauschulz of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Milton, an infant daughter, Marie, three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Wednesday afternoon where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 o'clock.
