Ervin Leo Arenz, age 81, of Chilton went to his eternal rest on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein with his family at his side. He was born September 19, 1928 in the Town of Stockbridge, to the late Arthur & Clara (Schommer) Arenz. On May 11, 1954, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Wagner at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown. The couple owned and operated the Arenz Homestead farm. Ervin also worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 6 years, and drove bus for Daun Bus Service in Chilton for 13 years before he retired in 1994. Ervin was a hard working, gentle, kind, and quiet man. He always cared for others and had the ability to fix any type of machinery. He treasured his faith and lived a good and fulfilling religious life. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton, and was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho where he ushered for over 55 years. Ervin was also a member of the Chilton Aerie Eagles #1288 for 37 years; in 2004, he and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the Chilton Eagle's Hall. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and watching the Green Bay Packers. Ervin was proud of his children and grandchildren's educational achievements and their athletic abilities. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty", one daughter and son-in-law: Audrey & Gary Watry of Malone; two sons and daughters-in-law: Andrew & Gloria Arenz of Malone, Alan & Jody Arenz of Sherwood; six grandchildren: Philip Watry & special friend, Toni Zastrow, Joshua Arenz and his fiance, Kellie Fasching, Bradley, Natalie, Alisha & Andrea Arenz; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Rose & Gerry Kotlowski of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur & Clara; three brothers: Sylvester, Gilbert & Clemens Arenz; two sisters: Romilda Muellenbach & Marie Heimann; three sisters-in-law: Florence, Merla, & June Arenz; and two brothers-in-law: Everett Muellenbach and Clarence Heimann. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2010 and on Friday at the church from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM. There will be an Eagle's Prayer Service and a Parish Vigil Service held Thursday evening at the funeral home beginning at 7:30 PM. We know he is at peace, but in our hearts, we long that he was here to stay. The family would like to thank the Homestead Care Center staff for all of their dedication and loving care.
