13 Dec 1948: Mrs. Alice Mays, wife of Thomas Mays, Myerstown Route 1, passed away at 1:45 o'clock Sunday morning in St, Joseph Hospital, Lancaster, where she was a patient since October 6. Aged 58 years, she was a daughter of the late John and Barbara Yingst Gettle, and was a member of the Schaefferstown Evangelical and Reformed Church. Aside from her husband, she leaves thirteen children including Allen, Denver; Thomas J., Hebron; Mrs. Harry Sanders, Schaefferstown; Jacob, Myerstown; John, Mt. Aetna; Aaron, Denver, Route 2; Mrs. Ardel Smith, Myerstown; Mrs. Ralph Gassert, Myerstown; Mrs. George Smith, Lebanon Route 2; Charles and Ray, both at home; and Andrew, Fort Lawton, WA; nineteen grandchildren including a granddaughter, Blanche Jean Mays, at home; and the following brothers & sisters, Charles and Samuel Gettle, this city; John Gettle, Myerstown; Miss Mary and Miss Rebecca Gettle, both of this city; Mrs. Miles Light, this city; Mrs. George Krall, Schaefferstown; and Mrs. Annie Diehl, Reading.
