Ray D. Mays, 78, of Hearthstone Manor, Lebanon, formerly of Tulpehocken Terrace, Myerstown, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Hearthstone Manor.

Born in Jackson Township, Pa., on November 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Alice (Gettle) Mays.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a landscaper at Farr's Nursery, Womelsdorf, Pa., for 12 years retiring in 1990.

He enjoyed horses.

He is survived by daughter, Brenda Mays Haller of Reading, Pa.; sons, Brent C. Mays of Hamburg, Pa., Bruce D. Mays of Milton, Delaware; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren; sister, Edith, wife of Ralph Gassert, of Lebanon, Pa.; brothers, Charles Mays of Lebanon, Pa. and John Mays of Mt. Aetna, Pa.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Rebecca Sanders, Dora Long, Anna Mays and Margaret Smith, and brothers Allen, Thomas, Jacob, Harry, Andrew and Aaron Mays.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment at Royer's Cemetery, Jackson Township, Pa.
