Charles W. Mase, Sr., 94, formerly of Lebanon, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at StoneRidge Towne Centre, Myerstown. He was the husband of the late Christine M. Heverling Mase who died in 2004. Born in Myerstown, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Alice Y. Gettle Mase. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 752nd Field Artillery Battalion under General Patton's 3rd Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He had been employed at Bethlehem Steel, Lebanon over 29 years, retiring in 1982. A life member of the Lebanon VFW Post 23, he enjoyed tinkering and inventing, horses and his grandchildren. He is survived by sons, Charles, Jr. husband of Lucy Mase of Lebanon and Richard husband of Barbara Mase of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith wife of Ralph Gassert of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Mase in 1982 and a daughter, Judy Moll in 2011. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors at Grandview Memorial Park, Annville. Published in Lebanon Daily News on January 20, 2012
