MARTIN M. SEUSS

Martin M. Seuss, 76, of 2509 Riverside Dr., died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital after a two-month illness. He was born on Oct. 21, 1895 in South Bend and had lived here 20 years, coming from Los Angeles.

On March 16, 1918, in South Bend, he married Florence H. Kramer, who survives him, along with a son, Jack M. of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley A. Martin of South Bend; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother, John M. of San Diego.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with William Taylor, of the Jehovah Witnesses, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Seuss was a veteran of World War I, and a life member of Chapter 6, D.A.V.

Martin was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. He married Florence Kramer and had three children, Jack, Shirley and Robert. While living in South Bend, Martin worked for the Crosley Company as a salesman selling refrigerators and radios. Martin liked sales.

The family moved to Los Angeles, California where Martin worked as a security guard. His daughter, Shirley, worked in the same building during the day distributing mail. Martin then went to work for Technicolor Company in Los Angeles. Shirley remembers the family moving back and forth between South Bend, Indiana and Los Angeles California several times.

On his final move back to South Bend, Indiana, Martin went to work for Joyce Manufacturing Company as a salesman selling furniture. Martin had a young man by the name of Don Pierce working for him. Don opened his own furniture store and Martin went to work for him. Later Martin worked with his son, Jack at a furniture store before he retired.
