James C. (Pop) Mitchell, 67, of Tompkins-Schuyler Countyline Road, Trumansburg RD 1, was fatally injured while on a construction job at Cornell University.

He is survived by his wife, Cora L. Mitchell of Trumansburg RD 1; five sons, Sherman and Melvin of Trumansburg, Simon and William of East Orange, New Jersey, and Staff Sgt. Lewis Mitchell of the U.S. Air Force; seven daughters, Mrs. Jeffie Thomas, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Mrs. Anna Thomas, Ithaca, Miss Syvella Mitchell, Trumansburg, Mrs. Mildred Reddick, Newark, New Jersey, Mrs. Marie Haithcox, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Mrs. Cecilia Dunham, Ithaca, and Miss Elaine Mitchell of Trumansburg; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in St. James AME Zion Church. The Rev. Paul Thurston will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Herson Funeral Home.
