Raymond Edward Bassett Sr., 85, of South Granby Road died Sunday at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.
He was a life resident of the town of Granby. For many years he was a machine operator with National Cellulose Co., Baldwinsville. He retired from the maintenance department at the Granby Highway Department.
He spent many years farming.
He was a member of the Little Utica United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, serving on many committees.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Esther Bowersox; two sons, Raymond E. Jr. of Fulton and the Rev. Everett J. of Auburn United Methodist Church; four daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Sylvia Day, Dale Snow and Karen Froit, all of Fulton; a brother, Andrew of Fulton; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home. Spring burial is in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.
