BRAMWELL — Arthur M. Goins Jr., 80, of Simmons Street (P.O. Box 365), Bramwell, died on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at his residence.
Born on Nov. 26, 1926 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Arthur M. Goins Sr., and Pearl Allen Goins. He had been a lifelong resident of Bramwell and was a member of the Elizabeth Bowen Jones Memorial Methodist Church in Bramwell. He was a retired dispatcher for Limestone Dust Corp. in Bluefield, Va. and was a U.S. Marine veteran who served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy H. "Dottie" Goins; a daughter, Jewel Ann Crabtree; a brother, Howard P. Goins; and sisters, Janet Bryant and Dorothy Lucas.
Survivors include: Son: William Allen Goins and wife Connie of Salisbury, N.C.; son-in-law: Charles Crabtree and wife Debbie of Bluefield, Va.; four grandchildren: Christopher M. Goins and wife Audrey, Brian K. Goins and wife Amy, William Arthur McKinley Goins and fiancée Nicole Brooks, Melanie Crabtree; four great grandchildren: Matthew Price, Steven Price, Hali Lynn Goins, Keith Allen Goins; one brother: William Goins of Indiana; two sisters: Lillian Frith of Rocky Mount, Va. and Zelda Cook of Bramwell.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Chris Arveson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Chris, Brian, William and Dean Goins, and Doug and David Cook will serve as pallbearers. Wayne Lucas, Roger and Dale Goins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call on Tuesday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Goins family.
