FORMER LOCAL WOMAN IS DEAD
Funeral Services For Mrs. Marshall Shufflebarger Will Be Held At Bluefield, Va., This Afternoon.
Mrs. Marshall Shufflebarger, widow of the late W.E. Shufflebarger of Bluefield, Va., died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Edgar L. Shufflebarger, Columbus, Ohio. Death followed a brief illness. Mrs. Shufflebarger was 76 years old.
The body will be brought to Bluefield this morning on Norfolk and Western passenger train No. 24. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Bluefield, Va. Christian Church, and interment will be made in Maple Hill Cemetery, West Graham [now Bluefield, VA].
Mrs. Shufflebarger was a native of Tazewell County and was born at Falls Mills, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Johnson. She lived for many years at Bluefield, Va., on Vine Street in the home now owned by James H. Hankins. Her husband preceded her in the grave several years ago. He was a widely known architect and building contractor.
For the past six or seven years, Mrs. Shufflebarger had lived at Columbus. She is survived by two sons, Edgar L. Shufflebarger, with whom she has been making her home, and John Shufflebarger, of Cleveland, Ohio.
She also leaves two brothers and three sisters: J.W[T.] and Andy Johnson of Falls Mills; Mrs. Frank Benson of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Frank Mooring of Huntington; and Mrs. Billy Calfee, of Bluefield. Mrs. Shufflebarger was an aunt of J.C. Tabor, 220 Spruce Street, this city.
