Ruby Edwards Cameron
CENTENARIAN | 105 years
1918 - 2024

After 105 years of spreading sunshine, our dear Ruby Cameron left her earthly estate to meet and greet her dear ones on the other side of the veil. They were reunited on January 5, 2024. Ruby spent her last eight years in Gilbert, Arizona, being attended to lovingly by her daughter, Marian, until her death.

Ruby was born August 24, 1918, in Beaver, Utah, a daughter of Philo Taylor Edwards and Addie May Gurr Edwards. On April 27, 1936, she married Jack Gillespie Cameron; they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 29, 1956.

She is survived by her daughters, Marian Wilkinson and Carolyn Montague; her son, Eddie Cameron (Nancy); and son-in-law, Dennis Barker. Also surviving her are Patti, Dorothy, and LaDean Edwards, as well as Wayne Edwards (Margene) and Colleen Healey.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cameron; daughter, Gayla Barker; sons-in-law, Michael Montague and Clark Wilkinson; her parents, Philo and Addie Edwards; her siblings: Donald Edwards (Mary), Max Edwards (Renee), Melba Carter (Ned), LaMar Edwards (Shirley), Norma Brady (Archie), Alene Felix (Joseph), LaVell Ewards, Lewis Edwards, Bob Healey. Shirley Maag (Eugene), Ray Edwards and Janice Warnick (Carl).

As an avid football fan and sister of legendary coach, LaVell Edwards, she proudly displayed BYU banners in her living room window on game day. She and Jack had season tickets to all BYU football games, both home and many away. They also enjoyed watching their son, Eddie, play football at Ricks College and Weber State.

Ruby spent her life in the Orem area of Utah, and graduated from Lincoln High School. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Relief Society president and other callings. She also served her community and served twice as president of the Orem Women's Club. Ruby also took great pride in her beautiful yard and won Orem's "Yard of the Month" Award. Together, she and Jack traveled to many places in their motorhome. They loved attending Cameron family reunions in a houseboat on Lake Powell.
