LA CROSSE - Fidelis Basgall, 94, died June 3 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born June 24, 1907, at Loretta, the son of John and Catherine Schoenfeld Basgall. He married Rose Urban on Nov. 20, 1934, at Loretta. She died Sept. 21, 1995.
A lifetime resident of Rush County, he was a retired auto mechanic. Basgall was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in La Crosse.
Survivors include three sons, Leon Basgall and Kenny Basgall, both of La Crosse, and Larry Basgall of Larned; three daughters, Angela Basgall of La Crosse, Elvira Scheuerman and Sandra Dixon, both of Ellinwood; one brother,
John Basgall of La Crosse; three sisters, JoAnn Schuckman of La Crosse, Florence Koerner of Hays and Frances Schuckman of
Gorham; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Arvin Basgall; one daughter, Velma Rose Basgall; seven brothers, Sylvester Basgall, Jerome Basgall, Henry Basgall, Everett Basgall,
Arthur Basgall, Clarence Basgall and Maurice Basgall; two sisters, Mary Urban and Helen Holzmeister; and one granddaughter, Melissa Dixon Greathouse.
Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to donor's
choice, in care of Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse.
