JOSEPH SPECHT DIES FRIDAY; RITES TUESDAY
Joseph W. Specht 72 of 1510 E. Navada St. died at his home Friday afternoon. He had been is failing health since last October and rapidly failing for the past month.
Born Feb. 23, 1896 in Marshall County , Liscomb Township, he was the son of Joseph H. Specht and louisa ( Coulter) Specht. He recived his education in the area of his birth.
On June 16,1920 he was untied in marriage to Bertha Anderson and they established their home on a farm north of Marshalltown in 1956.
Mr Specht was a veteran of World War 1, a member of the American Legion. World War 1 Barracks No. 1108, an avid Shuffle Board enthusiast and he attended the Church Of Christ when health permitted.
Preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters.
Surving are his widow and two sons., Dr. Edwin Specht of San Diego, Calif., and Hansel Specht , Marshalltown. Also surviving are three grandchildren, James Robert and Neva Specth, two brothers and three sisters, Orville of Marshalltown, George of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Haswell (Gertrude Rucker) of Cresco, Mrs Orville (Carrie) Schaefer, Des Moines, and Mrs. Harry (Beulah) Golwitzer, Waterloo.
Services will be from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Rodney Wald, pastor of the Church Of Christ, in charge. Burial in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
