Victim 23 years old: Ill for only two weeks. Paralysis begin the leggs, spread to the arms, and then to Respiratory Muscles- Death comes Wednesday, and burial follows at Conrad- No Quarantine .
The second fatality in the county from infantile paralysis is resulted Wednesday at the home of Joseph Specht, eight and one-half mile north of the city on Third Avenue , in Liscomb township where Noah Specht age 23 son of Mr. & Mrs. Specht succumbed to the dread disease following illness of two weeks .
Young Specht was working on the farm of Fred Barley, two and one-half miles north of his fathers home, when he was stricken, two week ago today. He was removed at once to his father's home and Dr. Kauffman , of Conrad, was called.
On the same day that young man was taken ill he had been doing heavy lifting while assisting to move a corn elevator. For a time it was believed that the severe strain to the back in lifting cased the condition, but later it was decided that this had very little if any to do with the case.
ADVISES NO PUBLIC FUNERAL
Dr. Kauffman also advised the family following the mans death, that no public funeral be held. Dr Kauffman informed the Times- Republican over the phone that was his understanding that no one would be admitted to the house this afternoon .
The burial took place at 1 o'clock this afternoon in the Conrad cemetery and friends and family drove to the cemetery and witnessed the interment.
Aside from the parents , Mr. Specht is survived by five brother, George, Louis , Joseph, Alva and Damon Spence, who lived at home; the sisters are Bertha, Gertrude , and Beulah who also at home.
