Thomas J. Schaeffer Of Locust Dale Dies In His 62nd Year
Thomas J. Schaeffer, 62, of Locust Dale died this morning at 5:30 o'clock this morning at Danville State Hospital where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He had been in ill health since August 4, 1938. Mr. Schaeffer suffered an injury in the mines and pneumonia developed.
He was born in Girardville, a son of the late George W. and Martha (Price) Schaeffer. When 9 years of age he moved to Locust Dale with his parents and spent the remainder of his life there. He was a miner by occupation and was employed at the Potts Colliery and was widely known to a large number of friends' through-out the region.
In 1929 he was married to Lillian Jones whom he leaves to survive.
A son Thomas also survives, together with the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mary Downs, of Riverton, New Jersey, John, of Numidia, George, of Larksville, Pa, and Jesse, of Ashland.
The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon from his late home in Locust Dale. Services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock in the Grace E. C. Church at Locust Dale by the pastor, Rev. E.U. Erb. Interment will be made in the Fountain Springs Cemetery with Kull Bros. funeral directors in charge. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the services.
