Locust Dale, January 19-Washington Schaeffer, veteran of the Civil War, and a member of the famous 48th regiment of Schuylkill County volunteers, died at the family home here yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks. He was a highly esteemed citizen, and had been a resident of this community for a great many years.
