HEATH SPRINGS - David R. Couch, 82 died on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at his home. Born April 10, 1926, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Emmie Shehane Couch and the husband of Eufaula Horton Couch. Mr. Couch served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of Deacons. He was the former owner and operator of David Couch Cabinet Shop and a retired carpenter. He retired from teaching building construction at Andrew Jackson High School after 17 years.
Mr. Couch is survived by his wife, Eufaula Horton Couch; son, David Ricky "Rick" Couch of Rock Hill; and sisters, Marie Phillips of Kershaw and Betty Cauthen of Heath Springs. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Couch; brothers, Coleman, Eugene, Wilbur, William, Cletus, James and Robert Couch; and sisters, Vera Barrett, Annie Whestling and Della Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, July 15, 2008, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Cockrell and the Rev. Buford Hayes. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
