CHESTER - The funeral service for Mr. Grover Coleman Couch, 685 Colony Road, was conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Barron Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clay Waldrip and the Rev. Joseph Clayton officiating. Burial followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rock Hill. Mr. Couch, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 18, at Chester Regional Hospital.
Born in Lancaster County on Sept. 2, 1911, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Couch Sr. and the late Minnie Shehane Couch. Mr. Couch attended Lancaster County schools and was an active member of Lowrys Baptist Church. He was a retired printer for Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Ruritan Club and Rock Hill Printers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Byrd Couch; two sons, Donald C. Couch and his wife, Brenda of Pickens and William C. Couch and his wife, Faye of Chester; one daughter, Mrs. L. B. (Becky) Cannon of Chester; two brothers, Wilbur Couch of Lancaster, and David Couch of Heath Springs; three sisters, Della Adams of Rock Hill, Marie Phillips of Kershaw, and Betty Cauthen of Heath Springs; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Steele Couch and one brother, Gene Couch.
Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, was in charge of arrangements.
