Lancaster - Mrs. Emmie Lorena Couch, 72, wife of Grover C. Couch of the Rich Hill community, died in the local hospital early Saturday after a long illness.

Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mattie Blackmon Shehane.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mrs. W. E. Barrett and Mrs. Floyd Cauthen of Heath Springs, Mrs. O'Neal Phillips of Kershaw, Mrs. Earl Adams of Rock Hill and Mrs. Ann Wiestling of Greenville; eight sons, William, James and David Couch of Heath Springs, Wilbur Couch of Lancaster, Cleatus Couch of Columbia, Coleman Couch of Lowerys, Gene Couch of Franklyn, N. C., and Robert Couch of Baltimmore, Md. 44 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Janie Catoe of Hartsville, Mrs. Pearlie Mae Davis of Anderson and Mrs. Willie B. Ballard of Rock Hill and two brothers, Dewey B. Shehane of Pickens and Palmer Shehane of Rock Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Rich Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Claude H. Hamby, the Rev. Cecil Candler, the Rev. J. L. Malony and the Rev. James S. Barrett. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
