.. Robert E. Steinmetz, 67, of 1010 E. Chestnut St., died this morning in Knox Community Hospital East after suffering a heart attack.
.. He was born March 12, 1914, in Mount Vernon to the late Clinton and Gertrude (Gorsuch) Steinmetz. A lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, he was a retired draftsman at Cooper Energy Services. Mr. Steinmetz was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and Gambier Fishing Club. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Force.

Mr. Steinmetz is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Gatton), a son, Barry James, a student at Purdue University; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Wheaton and Mrs. Ila Butcher, both of Mount Vernon, and Helen Patterson, Gambier; and three brothers, Lawrence and Dale, both of Mount Vernon, and Richard of Huntington, W. Va.
.. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral which will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home with Dr. William L. Young officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Knox County Heart Unit.
