.. Howard J. Steinmetz, 73, of Hopewell raod, died Thursday at 11:15 p.m. in Mercy Hospital following a tree-month illness.
.. Mr. Steimetz was a life-time resident of the Hopewell community and was a widely known farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Hopewell Methodist church.
.. Surviving are his wife, Sophia; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Lahmon of Osborn, Mrs. Lee Calhoon of Mount Vernon; three sons, Arthur and Dwight of Mount Vernon, Ross of Springfield; ten grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. James Longfellow of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Benton Steinmetz of Logansport, Ind., and Clinton of Mount Vernon.
.. Friends may call at the Dowds funeral home untill noon Sunday when the body will be removed to the Hopewell Methodist church for services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dwight Smith and the Rev. Sidwell officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell cemetery.
