Josephine was born in town Schleswig on June 12, 1883. She married Thomas McCarty on February 11, 1904 at Ss. Peter & Paul's Church in Kiel. They lived in St. Nazianz for many years where the children were born and then moved to Sheboygan. Josephine died February 23, 1947 of a heart attack while working at St. Nicholas Hospital.
