John Mahoney died on Monday (10/16/1944) at his home in Potsdam.
He was born on March 1, 1858 in the little town of Schagitocooke in Washington County, a son of Daniel and Catherine Sullivan Mahoney.
He married Miss Belle Nettles in Brasher Falls on November 27, 1888. For several years they operated a farm in North Stockholm and Mr. Mahoney covered an R. F. D. route. For fifteen years they conducted the little grocery on Maple Street just across the river.
Surviving was his wife; four sons, Daniel of Binghamton, James and Mark of North Stockholm, and John, Jr., of Potsdam; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Cunningham of DeKalb Junction and Mrs. Kathleen Regan of North Stockholm; twenty-two grandchildren, ten of whom were in service; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery in Potsdam.
