Mrs. Belle Mahoney, 101, died on Wednesday (8/1/1868) in A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.
She was born in Jefferson County on Feb. 18, 1867 a daughter of George and Joannah Kelly Nettles.
She married John Mahoney on Nov. 27, 1888.
Last Feb. 18, in honor of her 100th birthday, her daughter, Mrs. James Regan, Norwood, held an open house. Many friends, relatives and neighbors made it a memorable day for Mrs. Mahoney. Among the scores of cards received was one from Senator Robert F. Kennedy. She was the queen of Ogdensburg's 1968 centennial.
Mrs. Mahoney is survived by four sons, John, Potsdam, Mark, Louisville, James, North Stockholm and Daniel, Utica; two daughters, Mrs. James (Kathleen) Regan, Norfolk and Mrs. Mary Cunningham, DeKalb; 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
