North Stockholm-Funeral services were held for James Bernard Mahoney Sr., 87, at the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk with burial in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Mahoney died Saturday, July 4, 1981 in Potsdam, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Anges; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Loretta) Derushia; two sons, James Jr. and William; a sister, Mrs. Mary Cunningham; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Gerald, predeceased him in 1970.

Mr. Mahoney was born in the town of Norfolk on Sept. 16, 1893 to the late John and Belle (Nettles) Mahoney. He was an Army veteran of WWI. On July 17, 1923 he married Agnes Hourihan in Brasher Falls.

He owned and operated Mahoney's Store in Knapps Station until 1940 when he operated a mail route. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation and the American Legion Post of Norwood.
