Maurice lived most of his adult life in Farmville on W. 3rd St / Bus. 460 / 15 near Fairgrounds Rd. with the Layne St. Exd. behind his property. His home has since been torn down. The property is now a Mobile Home sales area.

Maurice Ray Hubbard, 65 owner and operator of Hubbard's Transfer, died Thursday, Jan. 8, at Southside Community Hospital, Farmville.
A native of Prince Edward county, he was born January 15, 1915, a son of the late Samuel Raleigh Hubbard and Flossie Richardson Hubbard.
Survivors include one son, Thomas E. Hubbard, of Cumberland; one daughter, Mrs. Erlene H. Bowman, of Farmville; four brothers, William M. Hubbard, of Nolte, Colo., J. Newton, Walter Winston and Samuel R. Hubbard, Jr., all of Richmond; five sisters, Mrs. Eunice H. Meadows, Mrs. Ora H. Dowdy, Mrs. Flossie H. Woolridge, Mrs. Hallie Swinson, Mrs. Lois Young, all of Richmond, four grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Ms. Gladys McCulloch.
He was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Prospect, where a funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
