BEAVER, OHIO -- Sampson Wesley Shear, 88, died at 1 a.m. today at the home of a son, Harold Shear, of Cove Rt. 1. He had been ill for several months.
Born July 12, 1869 in Scioto County, he was a son of John and Jane Dever Shear.
Surviving are six sons; Henry and Orma of Minford; Ora of South Charleston, Ohio; Elmer of Urbana,Ohio; Roy of Springfield, Ohio; and Harold at whose home he died; four daughters; Mrs. Anna Surran of Portsmouth Rt. 1; Mrs. Maude Allen of Portsmouth; Mrs. Mae Downey of Minford Rt. 1; and Mrs. Mary Cochran of Oak Hill, Ohio.
Mr. Shear was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Shoemaker Shear and four sons and daughters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Hammerstein Funeral Home in Beaver with burial following in Bennett Cemetery near Minford.
