Arthur Simpson Allen, 29, an employee of the Pocahontas Fuel Company, died at 4:15 yesterday morning, January 14, 1936 at his home in Maybeury, death following a nine-day's illness from pneumonia.
Mr. Allen was born February 6, 1907, at Coaldale, a son of Mr. & Mrs. U. S. Grant Allen.
He had spent most of his life in that section and was well known. He had been employed at the Shamokin operation for the past eighteen years.
He is survived by his wife, who before marriage was Miss Nancy Frank and three children, George, Edna and Barbara. He also leaves his parents and the following brothers and sisters: V.R. Allen of Newhall; George, Sam Howard, Frank, Forest and Donald Allen all of Bramwell; Mrs. Lillian Owens, of Maybeury; Mrs. May Bennett and Mrs. Pearl Goins both of Bramwell; Mrs. Ethel Hatter, of Irish Creek, Va. and Mrs. Beatrice Dunn, of Waynesboro, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at the home of his parents in Bramwell, conducted by the Rev. H. G. Holdway, pastor of the Bramwell Methodist Church.
Burial will be at the Belcher Cemetery and will be in charge of the UMWA.
