SAM RICHMOND DIES AT HOME EARLY TODAY

Was injured In Fall From Damson Tree At His Farm About Two Weeks Ago

FUNERAL SERVICES SET FOR SATURDAY

Was Well Known and Had Always Resided In This County; Survived By Widow

Injuries he received when he fell from a damson tree at his farm near this city on Sunday, September 20, proved fatal to Sam Richmond, well known farmer who died at his home near this city this morning about 12:05 o'clock.

Mr. Richmond who was well and favorably known in this section was 74 years of age, and had resided in this county practically all of his life. The Richmond farm is located about two miles below this city across the river from Tug Creek and for years has been visited by picnic parties and others from this section.

On the day Mr. Richmond was injured he had left the house and went to a damson tree several hundred yards distant. It is thought that when Mr. Richmond climbed the damson tree that he became dizzy, lost his balance and fell a distance of about 15 feet. The accident occurred at about 12:30 o'clock, but it was not until 4:30 that his calls for help were heard and he was found injured and helpless beneath the tree.

His back was injured in the fall and paralsis later set in, which caused his death. His condition had been serious since the accident and little hope was held for his recovery.

Besides his widow he is survived by one son, Hugh, who resides in this city. He also leaves two brothers, M. A. Richmond and J. S. Richmond, both of whom reside on the Richmond farm, also two sisters, Mrs. E. T. Hinton and Mrs. L. A. Irvin, of Summers street.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Jim Richmond Cemetery.
