Omar Harpt, 79, of 1001 N. 15th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly late Tuesday morning at home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore A. Weiss will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Harpt was born July 17, 1900, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Emil and Mary Cordes Harpt. He was reared and educated in the Town of Gibson, moving o Manitowoc in 1924. He married Meta Stueck Nov. 16, 1927, in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mishicot. He started carpentry work with Carl Huebner and later worked with Hamann Construction Company, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mens Club of the church, held numerous offices in the church, and was a retired member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, Local 849.
Survivors include his wife, Meta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Elton and Susan Harpt of De Pere and Gerald and Audrey Harpt of Manitowoc; a godchild and nephew, Roger Harpt and his wife, Janet of Grafton, nine grandchildren and other nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the church from noon until the time of service.
