OSCAR S. JOHNSRUD

Oscar S. Johnsrud, 33, former film projectionist, died Tuesday morning after
a lingering illness at his home, 1611 Grand Ave., Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. A. M. Stone will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Johnsrud, he was born at Manitowoc
April 16, 1916. Mr. Johnsrud was active in athletics, starring in football and
basketball, at Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, where he was graduated in 1934.
For two years he was employed at the Aluminum Goods Mfg. Co., and from 1936 to
1952 he was employed as a projectionist at theaters at Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
In 1952 he took employment at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co., remaining there
until last summer when illness forced him to discontinue working. He was a member
of the Projectionist Union, Local 410.
He married the former Lucille Swokoske on June 17,1939. She survives along with
a son, James at home; seven brothers, Lester of Chicago and Clarence, Alfred,
Edwin, John, Melvin and Kenneth of Manitowoc; and two sisters, Mrs. Esther
Packard of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Reinhardt Peppler of Manitowoc.
Friends may call at the Mittnacht Funeral home until 10:30 a.m. Thursday when
the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state from 11
a.m. until the hour of service.
