Creta Elizabeth Brown, daughter of George Edson Brown and Harriet Lutitia Appleman, was born September 11, 1909 in Union, Rock County, Wisconsin. She died January 24, 1995 at Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin, aged 85 years, 4 months and 13 days and was buried in the Milton Cemetery in Milton, Rock County, Wisconsin.

On July 8, 1933 Creta was united in marriage to Rex Eugene Addie in Rockford, Illinois. He was born January 31, 1914 and died August 30, 1987 at Janesville, Wisconsin, aged 73 years, 6 months and 29 days. Their two children, both born in Janesville, Wisconsin, were: Jean Ellen, b. 23 Aug 1934 & Lawrence Eugene Addie, b. 2 Aug 1937.

Crete and Rex farmed for many years on several different farms near Milton, Rock County, Wisconsin. They were foster parents to many troubled boys sent to them by the county authorities. After retiring from farming they moved to Joliet, Illinois where Rex was a guard at Stateville Penitentiary. Later they retired in Janesville, Wisconsin, where they both lived out the rest of their days.

JANESVILLE - Creta Brown Addie, age 85, died Wed., Jan. 25, 1995, at Rock Haven. She was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Union, WI, the daughter of George and Lutticia Appleman. She attended the Free Methodist Seminary in Evansville, where she graduated. She lived most of her life in the Janesville and Milton area, and for a time in Joliet, IL. She married Rex Addie July 8, 1933, in Rockford, IL.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Lynda) Addieof Janesville; Geane (Robert) Mansur; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers; Carl (Millie) Brown of Madison, Merritt (Regina) Brown of Janesville, Don (Millie) Brown, Jack (Vinney) Brown, both of Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 30, 1987; her parents; 3 sisters, and 8 brothers.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Jan. 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the EMMANUEL FREE METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Mt. Zion and Pontiac, Janesville. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery. Rev. John Grover and grandson, Chadwick Addie will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Hwy, 26, Milton. A memorial has been established at the church.
