Geri B. Behnke, age 96, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, died Sunday evening, September 7, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Geri was born on October 26, 1917 in Cleveland, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Henry and Wanda (Stefaniak) Junk. On July 28, 1936 she married Ferdinand J. Behnke at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1973. Geri and her husband owned and operated Westside Beer Depot & Groceries in Manitowoc from 1949 until 1961. She was then employed with Mirro Aluminum Company for many years, retiring in 1977. Geri was a volunteer at the Manitowoc Public Library and enjoyed playing the organ and cards.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Leslie & Esther Behnke, Manitowoc; two daughters-in-law: Audrey Behnke, Manitowoc, Karen Behnke, Sheboygan Falls; fourteen grandchildren: Sherry & Bill Wilhelm, Candy Behnke & special friend Toby Remiker, Joe & Julie Behnke, Jill & Steve Vetter, Katherine & Jim Partain, Dallas & Sue Behnke, Denver & Roberta Behnke, Dayton & Misty Behnke, Kirsten & Jens Jasperson, Kelly & Steve Katz, Kari & Collin McCaffery, Andy Behnke & special friend Zorica Dent, Allen & Lisa Behnke, Russel Behnke; 26 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law: Valarian Junk, Cato, Kenneth & Jeanette Junk, Manitowoc; and two sisters: Dorothy Dondlinger, Manitowoc and Audrey Burkart, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Fritz Behnke, Dallas Behnke; one great granddaughter: Paige Behnke; a brother and sister-in-law: Ervin & Annette Junk; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall - 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Cremation will follow the service at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Geri will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014.
