Elsie Frances Hill Vestal, 98, Leavenworth, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park. She was born on Dec. 1, 1906, in Liberty, Mo., the daughter of Hiram P. and Cordia Lee Salyers Huntsman. Elsie married Charles T. Hill on March 17, 1923. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1946. She then married Ralph Vestal on Aug. 6, 1957. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Rosa Lee Simonis and Ruth Marie O'Rourke; and her sons, Gerald Ray Hill, Charles R. Hill, James H. Hill and Earl Jack Hill. Elsie is survived by her daughters, Cora Lee Bergman, St. Joseph, Mo., and Betty Jean Linaweaver, Leavenworth; her sons, Alva F. Hill, Florida, and Joseph M. Hill, Leavenworth; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Elsie worked at the Veterans Administration Center for 27 years in food service, retiring in 1973. She was baptized at the Hoover Christian Church, Hoover, Mo. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Jerry Muncy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Muncie Cemetery.
